So... after careful thought and some pondering whether to post this or not.... I decided it was something worth bringing into the light about the industry I love and work in. As a rule every six months I normally get my bloods tested but of late have been a bit lacking a bit unlike me however today I got my Test Certificate and as expected everything is 100% Clear... when I get tested I go all out and get everything done. This Cert that costs money to have will be displayed in the reception area for all to see next to my Studio Registration. So why would I spend money and display my Certificate in my studio ? Well this simple truth is this....Your Peace Of Mind Every day an artist in my industry works with blood and that can range from getting a needle stick, inhaling dry blood particles, spray or flicks of blood into cuts eyes nose or mouth. Piercers are more prone to blood infections than most artists that work with blood, because the needles or blades (Short Sharp Tubes) are Hollow... so they hold more blood inside, this means the risk to us is greater, so your probably asking what risk.... well we work with customers that admit they have HIV or Hepatitis the most common blood borne diseases in our industry also the most contagious. What about the people that have it....but dont admit it on there consent form.... So my belief is this... if you as an artist have nothing to hide be proud and show your customers just how clean you and your studio is, also giving yourself peace of mind and keeping your customers SAFE! Some Councils in the UK insist you disclose your blood work to the public but a lot also dont. So Food for thought....next time you get a piercing ask to see an upto date CERT admittedly its only as good as the day you was tested on but would you not be more happy knowing your artist made the effort to disclose they were clear.
