So after nap time I ran to the Post Office and Joanne Fabrics with the little ones. Came home by 5, made a very fast leftovers dinner, tried to get out the door by 5:30, but Madden wouldnt finish his food and then he had a poopy diaper so we didnt leave until 5:45. Drove Dezy to her youth group and then drove myself to the gym to make it to yoga by 6:30. Got pulled out of class at 7:15 because our kids had already been there passed the time limit for the day. Woops. Got a movie going in the car all while being demanded that I raise the sun. Cruised up and down the good ol town of Monti hoping to find something to do and realized fast food has no appeal to me anymore (I swear, I am human) finally parked in the church parking lot for about an hour while the kids whined in the back. I tried teaching them to meditate which was actually helpful. Dezy finally got in the car and Im fairly confident drove home at her height of annoyance because I chose to take the opportunity to sing along with the radio. Im getting to my point...after I opened the garage, pulled into park and my grumpy pre teen hopped out slamming the house door behind her and I saw the little ones asleep in the back. This sense of peace came over me and I thought of my mom. At the end of the day, as we pulled into the driveway, she would stop. Stop moving, talking and possibly even thinking. I did the same. It was like taking a quick moment to put the chaos of work and school behind us and mentally preparing for the chaos that can be family dinner. I understand and appreciate these moments more than ever now. When the world pauses briefly and allows you a time of silence. The vibrations of the cat beneath me are gone and any stress I faced is over. This is peace. And a very long status.
