So after taking the Dana 44 apart a bit I made some - TopicsExpress

So after taking the Dana 44 apart a bit I made some discoveries. First, the big issue with this particular axle is its 60 wms-wms measurement. The stock Isuzu 7.5 is 56 wms-wms. However, as you can see in the first picture, the housing end on this thing is an enormous cast piece that is 3 3/4 from end to end, with the flange area measuring 1 3/8 alone to make room for the toner ring and retainer use in the ABS system. On the plus side, being an isuzu spec axle it uses Dana 60 bearings, and moser makes ends that I could weld in place of the factory ones. That should shorten the axle down nearly 3 inches. and bring me right about 57 which I can work with. The only problem is, I wont know the exact difference in size unless I order a pair of those housing ends. If it does, I can also try to adjust it a bit by changing the axle stick out from said housing, but I will need to find, or do some measuring, of the brakes I want to run.
