So after watching Patch Adams I googled the Gesundheit Institute. Apparently the real Patch Adams has been working for decades to build his dream hospital but has yet to achieve the funding for it--though they did keep the preliminary experimental clinic running for 12 years. If you go to the website, patchadams.org, you can contribute to this project (you can even set up recurring donations if you want) as well as read more about the project. People, if ever there was a cause worth your time and money, this must be on that list. Say you donated a mere $10 from every paycheck to the project. Assuming you get paid every two weeks that is about $250/year. Now say that only 10% of my fb friends actually read all of this and set up such a donation. That would be 83 people, which would add up to $20,750/year. I just feel like this is something real that I can actually help with. It isnt slacktivism, all about awareness that doesnt do anyone any good. It might be small, but I can contribute something in a real and measurable way. And that seems like something worth doing and telling other people about. So this is me, telling people about it. And for good measure, Im going to tag people: Summer Giles and Andria Bobo and Olivia Hall Fowler and Cristy Koss Steinbeigle and Deborah Lynn Warburton and Victoria Williams and Cecily Kiester and Denise Pickering and Jenna Meryl Perry and Matt McDonald and everyone else...
