So after wondering about choice (which is a word that gets used a lot these days), this is what I see. There is no such thing as choice, and we human beings are not making choices. No-one would choose to suffer, and if it were as easy as making a choice to be happy or wealthy or healthy or thin or whatever, then everyone would be doing it. We dont. For the most part we are a product of the consciousnes in which we live, and we have been conditioned to fit into it. It is an insane and violent consciousness. Who chose that?? Mostly the people I know suffer inside their own heads, but there are millions and millions of people on the planet who suffer through hunger, thirst and sickness. Did they choose that? When something comes my way and asks you wanna do this?, I ask myself and wait for the answer to arise. The answer might be yes. It might arise straight away or it could be a later/next week/next year. If I think I have to make a choice about doing it, I will experience confusion - do I or dont I? It causes discomfort. Somewhere inside there is an intelligence in operation, and I just need to listen. I dont need to choose. We either do things or we dont. I reach for a cigarette and smoke it, or I dont. No choice involved. Some of the stuff about choice implies that we can choose love or peace or freedom etc. I can say I choose peace but what does that mean and does it bring peace? I dont think so. In order for me to experience peace, I need to transform everything within myself that is not peace. Maybe then peace can be born? No choice is required.
