So although I do not agree with the mass consumerism of the holidays I do still love this time of the year. I love seeing all the decorations, the trees, the lights, the bells, the lit up cities, the parades, the stories of Santa Claus, Jesus, Winter Solstice traditions and rituals(whether you believe any of those things or not they still are quite entertaining), watching Rudolph, Frosty, Charlie Brown, The Polar Express, and most importantly, the time with family, loved ones and the unconditional giving to others. Whether it be to tell someone you love or appreciate them or to help and give to others less fortunate. Whether it be something you spent money on, made yourself, or just played a helping hand in, its nice to see people selflessly give for the happiness and well being of others. And yes, these are things we should try and practice all year round, but when you bring that together with all the family, celebrations, and traditions of the season it gives a unique energy to this time of the year. An energy that I feel has greatly diminished over the decades since I was a kid. An energy I hope to help strengthen and encourage my children to do the same. So, I encourage everyone this holiday season to selflessly give and do what you can for the happiness and well-being of others and may your holidays be filled with peace and love. With that said, its time to crank up the Christmas music, and start putting up some decorations! Happy Holidays!
