So apparently I had the pleasure of observing a group of young Swainsons Hawks feasting on insects in a freshly harvested field, while on their way to Argentina for the winter. I was driving around yesterday and spotted 20+ Hawks in a field just hopping about and I did a double take and a u-turn as soon as I could and snapped a few photos. Ive never seen anything like this before, but they are apparently known as the grasshopper Hawk because they like to feed on insects in freshly mowed fields. Cool!
