So apparently a supermarket chain in France is making a big deal - TopicsExpress

So apparently a supermarket chain in France is making a big deal out of selling misshapen fruits and veggies, at a discount, in order to reduce the waste created at the growers before its even purchased by the produce marketers. All good. But heres my question - does anyone know if that produce is REALLY discarded at the growers, or if theres another existing market for it, like juice, fruit bars, canned/frozen soups, etc. I find it hard to believe the growers wouldnt capitalize their investment in getting the fruit & veggies to ripe. Anyone know? dailymail.co.uk/femail/food/article-2693000/Forget-ugli-fruit-meet-ugly-fruit-bowl-French-supermarket-introduces-lumpy-misshapen-fruit-vegetables-sold-30-discount-combat-food-waste.html
