So, are we all the same? I am so glad that Peter, a friend of Gayle, will comment in a non-biased/non-racist manner about the skeletal differences between people of different race groups. Well, I think he will respond to my invitation to do so. In the meantime, here is my invitation to all of you to watch the movie Man to Man (I have the French version if youre interested) https://youtube/watch?v=k3lCE9-j3aQ Warning, you might not sleep afterwards. The bias against the 2 abducted pygmies is horrendous. Even worse is that we can relate, in this day and age. It is a 1870 story but we live through oppression of the others even now, and any means is good to justify attacks on the others be it science, religion, capital.. etc [as an aside, when Ester and I watched Hotel Rwanda recently, she asked about the danger to gay people since she made the link between the denigration of the Tutsi people and that ended up in a genocide to the homophobic remarks and jokes that are so freely available - and we know of gay-bashing/assaults/runs away from the mobs/prison sentences for being gay! Gosh] Ive just looked up info on the said movie Man to Man. It is set in 1870 Central Africa (briefly/filmed in South Africa) and England. It is the story of 2 people who are captured and sent to England because they are pygmies. One of the Anthropologist observing them argues that they are fully human and bears the dreadful consequences of sticking to the truth of his finds.Of course it is pleasant that he, the good one, is beautiful Joseph Fiennes. Guess what? Racism is being perpetrated even around such a movie that should so open our eyes. The movie most obviously wouldnt happen without the male and female actors playing the role of the pygmies, right? But do you think that I can easily find their names online? Even Wikipedia does not have a link to Lomama Boseki, the man. Thank goodness Cecile Bayiha is mentioned as an actress from DRC who played the role of the female pygmy. Despite finding out that she is not a pygmy herself but a little person, I cannot read anything of her other movies nor of her childhood - this information is given about the other actors - the white ones I mean! She is acknowledged by name and as having a professional career, I suppose this is meant to be good enough. Methinks the movies story is more true and more current than we want to it be. The 2 co-producers, Aissa Djabri and Farid Lahouassa of Algerian descent are also not spoken about much despite the fact that they are doing well for themselves. I think that the white man rules and I do not mean that negatively. https://youtube/watch?v=k3lCE9-j3aQ
