So as I am filling out all of these job applications and I keep coming to the race question and it annoys the hell out of me. The Asian continent represents 4.3 billion people or roughly 60% of global population. India and China represent 37% of the global population. Yet we are all grouped into 1 racial category. Biologically, Indians are Caucasians, geographically, Indians are Asian and practically, ive lived in a majority Caucasian country (untill 2043) since the day I was born. So 2 to 1 says I list myself as Caucasian right? Granted: per the census Asian Americans account for about 5% of the US population HR Race questions are usually used for demographic data This is a relatively insignificant thing to get annoyed about but seriously... This race question is stupidly outdated and impractical especially with the increased amounts of mixed race kids. Lets be honest; pretty sure most companies just want to compare the percentage of blacks/whites/hispanics they employ. Doubt anyone has ever compared Indian/korean/chinese/japanese/filipino to the other 3.... So how about we just do Black, White, Hispanic, multiple races and everyone else?
