So as most people know, I have been in Uganda for the past few weeks, volunteering at a secondary school (high school) for orphans and children from underprivileged families. Most of the children at the school have had their lives greatly impacted by Joseph Kony and his army of rebels who terrorized Northern Uganda for years. The man who we have been working with, Augustine Kezzy Okello, started a school two years ago, with money from his own pocket, to provide an education to these children, who otherwise would not be able to afford to go to school. The school, KEFRAMA College, needs help with many things but the most pressing right now is the need for a new well. The current one is over 1/2 mile away, and frequently breaks -- causing the school to spend money that could otherwise be spent on food (something else that runs out at the end of each term) or scholarships so more children can go to the school.
