So as my loyal readers might recall, a few weeks back after being stood up by the second tree feller, I got gung-ho and managed to bring down one very large offending branch courtesy of frustrated anger and a pruning saw, and was determined to bring down the rest of the tree in a similar fashion - branch by branch, not really caring if it *did* take me months. I was grumbling to a neighbour who Id stopped to have a chat with about tradespeople who dont show up etc etc, and she said her partner had a chain saw and would *love* to chop my tree down for me! He arrived this morning (On the appointed day, at the appointed time yet, how good is that?) spent two hours removing the branches. What Ive got left is a tallish stump. It could be an interesting piece of art, and if the tree reshoots, I can at least control the growth. Sure, Ive got a front yard filled with green waste, but he filled the green waste bin for me, and cut the branches into manageable pieces so theyll go out in the bin over time. Hes also interested in taking some of the large logs to use himself. Yeah, I know I said Id give up on the public reasons to be grateful stuff, but Im just so thrilled to have helpful neighbours who helped me get the job done!
