So as of March, 2013, the Bahamas govt decided to move forward with the decision to allow exploratory oil drilling - in the southwestern part of the Bahamas (five miles north of Cuba-Bahamas marine border). The Bahamas Petroleum Company (BPC) has already raised 75 million for the exploration. Geologic surveys estimates that there are 5-9 billion barrels of oil in the Cuban waters and 4.3 billion barrels in the Bahamian waters. Oil exploration are currently underway of the coast of Cuba, but the Russian company that is managing the exploration have yet to find any significant oil reserves in the Cuban waters. Hmmmmm - will the results prove to be the same for the "shallow water" wells that are believed to be in Bahamas?
