So, as someone who has spent a bit of time researching the politics of the environment, I took a moment to read the comments of a few ... select ... sources of news that have chosen to celebrate the rescinding of the price on carbon. It was like staring into an echo chamber. There was decidedly much agreement and disagreement about the virtue or dishonour of this act. Everyone was very quick to blame this or that party. Id like to say people were quick to provide their reasons, but very little of it was grounded in statements provided by credible sources. It is entirely distressing that a lot of misinformation exists on this. I cannot help but think that ecology should be part of the curriculum. We are reaching a point of our anthropogene where it is no longer acceptable to assume that this is a fringe area of interest. The teaching of evolution is a cornerstone of high school science, and we do so to ensure our students have some sense of our origin. Similarly it becomes imperative that education must offer lessons on our relationships with the environment. I can imagine certain persons finding this preposterous, a waste of time or effort and an attempt to indoctrinate with leftist bias. To that I say, come back to me when you have decided that it is no longer acceptable to proffer chaplaincy and religious education as a suitable public offering.
