So at first it was ATL and now I’m seeing everyone from home doing it so here I go: I’m SOOOO DMV I can remember Zayre’s in Hampton Mall and grocery shopping at McBrides on Minnesota Avenue and A&P. I remember Hechinger’s was the home store before Home Depot and Lowe’s. I remember the drive in movies on IndianHead AND Central Avenue. I remember when Paradise Estates, Mayfair Mansions and 8th and H were notorious…… I remember when Martin Luther King Jr. Highway in Seat Pleasant used to be George Palmer Highway. I remember when the closest Six Flags was Great Adventures in New Jersey and when our Six Flags used to be Adventure World and before that Wild World. I remember the difference between the Good Humor trucks and the REAL ice cream trucks. I remember PG County used to have GAP stores until they changed them all to Old Navy. I remember going to the Hecht’s downtown during the X-mas season. I remember Roy Rogers, Bob’s Big Boy and Hot Shoppes and eating at Duff’s buffet in New Carrollton. I remember block parties and how our city created a T-Shirt for every current event, song and dance…..including all of the Mickey/Minnie Mouse shirts lol. I remember shopping at Landover Mall when they had Woodward & Lothrop, Hecht’s, Sears and Garfinckel’s and being dropped off to go to the underground movie theater and how could I forget Farrell’s Ice Cream..lol. I remember when Mayor Marion Barry got busted and “that B---- set me up” became an infamous phrase. I remember Ebony Inn on Sheriff Road had the best pork sandwiches and how T-N-T had the best soul food. I remember walking from Deanwood to Kenilworth to the pool but my parents wouldn’t let me go swimming :-/…. I remember towns that don’t really get on the map like Cheverly, Kettering, Carmody Hills, and what my grandmother referred to as “the heights”: Cedar Heights, Capital Heights, Fairmount Heights…. I’m NOT so Baltimore but I did live there for a period..lol I remember partying at Nick’s place for Monday night football with the Raven’s players and when all the guys wanted to drive “big boy aks” (acuras)....
