So awesome, Just a anchored off Nuku island had tea (fantastic feast cooked by Julie) kids to bed doing dishes and we hear quiet high pitch squealing and clicking getting louder......is that one of the kids? we say, then realize its whale song were hearing through the hull of the boat, Julie goes up on deck an there is a Humpback about 40m away blowing and slapping his side fin on the water at us! Bit freaky in the starlight! I go below to get a torch and the whale song is now quite loud as hes cruising up to us. Im back on deck now and find him with the torch, hes a bit shy and swims off maybe he thought our stern slapping on the water was a mate he could play with? Leaves us in wonder at the majesty of these mammals. Finn not quite asleep asks what the noise was, we tell him just a whale come to say good night!
