So basically all images got deleted and all thumbnails and about 100 new folders were auto created with gibberish. The security team at hostgator is working on what has happened and asked me to leave the website as it is. Personally I can fix this issue by just reuploading all my images and running a script to generate new thumbnails for the big images but what if it happens again? She asked me not to do that so that they can investigate what happened and set up new protocols for the site. Good news is that if we got hacked (Im not so sure..i think its a change to the server software) then there is NO sensitive data on our database. All passwords are triple encrypted as well as email addresses. The encryption is irreversible....it only goes one way. So what a bum day!! Happy monday to me..yay!
