So, because my street doesnt have street light and this means there is high probability or risk of being mugged or my house being broken into. For these reason somebody somewhere rightfully decides to install street lights for my own safety which would mean there are more services that I have access to and therefore I have to pay higher rates. If I follow President Zumas logic I can simply refuse to pay more rates because I didnt ask for those extra services even though I derive benefits from those extra services. This brings me to one conclusion, which is that we are not being taken seriously by our own President. I think this is one issue that President Zuma would need to clarify to SA citizens if he is ever going to respond to Nkandla report, especially on the issue of him paying back a portion of costs incurred on items which cannot be classified as security upgrades. President must assist citizens of SA to have confidence in him and his leadership. Its only fair that people should have confidence in the head of state but he must assist the nation in that regard. Its not an attack on him, its just a need for clarity that arose from his statements.
