So currently in our local news is our Mayor once again ... down in Texas trying to figure out how Toronto can become a "MAJOR MUSIC DESTINATION" like Austin, Texas ... AND I`M CALLING BULLSHIT ON ALL OF THIS! I just looked up Austin`s music line-up for this Friday and compared it to Toronto`s. Not only do we have twice as many bands but the bands we have coming have recognisable names. This Friday in Toronto you can catch 70`s rockers UFO, Sonic Youth`s Lee Ranaldo, guitar great Joe Satriani, local swinger Big Rude Jake, and aclaimed Canadian Rufus Wainright ... at different venues around the city ... along with easily 60 other venues. Looking up Austin`s line-up for this Friday I recognize Vince Clarke ... the keyboardist for Yaz (80`s band), Emmylou Harris and Kid Congo Powers who worked somewhat with The Cramps ... all at different venues ... with only about 25 other venues. TORONTO IS ALREADY A FANTASTIC MUSIC HUB! ROB FORD DIDN`T KNOW WHO MARGARET ATWOOD WAS - HE SHOULD NOT BE INFORMING OUR CULTURE!
