So disappointed to read in my youngest girls school newsletter (secondary school) in a letter from the Principle that these are you four post-school options - University, polytechnic, trade training or nothing much. Really - nothing much. Is this what we are teaching our children? She needs to look at the biographies of many successful people and see how many have no formal qualifications. I am not saying tertiary education is not a great option - I have a degree and diploma myself however it does not make me better or more successful than anyone without one. I am really saddened that this is a message given by an educationalist. The teachers I know would never share these sentiments. Thoughts welcome.
