I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 NIV Turning the Tide The story of David and Goliath is one of epic proportions, and has a storybook ending. Goliath, clad in brass greaves, and scale mail weighing about one-hundred twenty-five pounds, stood eleven feet tall. Young David was the last of eight brothers, a mere boy, but he defeated the giant with only a single tiny stone thrown from his sling. Sometimes the world seems too broken to allow victory, inviting despair and defeat. It can make you feel like a slave to the chaos of chance or fate. Isaiah wrote to ease these fears of God’s people, and to strengthen them amidst their suffering. It is written so you would remember stories like David’s and know that it’s not up to you to win the hopeless battles, but a test of faith for you to trust His “righteous right hand.” Today’s One Thing What battle are you facing today that you can turn over to the Lord for peace and victory?
