So does anyone think that posting hot button opinions on Facebook has any positive effect whatsoever? I mean, seriously? Seems to me that were simply preaching to the choir re: the people who agree with us, and are further alienating those who dont. Although I may post a few rah rah shout outs for favorite candidates in the upcoming elections (yes, Im talking about you, John Fitzpatrick and Elle Cochran) Im going to try my damnedest to resist Facebooking opinions that arent helping anything, as I believe it only serves to further polarize us. Im a sucker for this stuff, so please feel free to call me out if I fall off the wagon. OR ... if Im missing a value to it, let me know. What I WILL try to do, however, is be more personally proactive in things like: who I vote for, who I write to regarding issues I feel strongly about, where I make donations and - most importantly - seeking out the rare occasion where I can talk to a rational person with an opposing view and see if we can find areas of common agreement and points of compromise. Wish me luck on that last one...
