So earlier today at about 2:15 pm is noticed Badge had apparently been bitten or stung while outside as he came up to me limping and whining... Hours later he wouldnt walk on his paw and it nearly doubled in size and he just seemed kinda depressed. Now Im sitting in the lobby of an emergency vet at 9:50 pm and his whole leg is swollen and two puncture marks are leaking blood near the base of his foot. Apparently he was snake bitten, most likely a copperhead. Thankfully theyre probably the least venomous of our local pit vipers, oh and Badge is just a beast. Crazy because they told me theyve had a lot of snakebites this week, so far TWO pet owners have come rushing through the door carrying their pets which had been bitten by rattlesnakes. One a boxer, the other a poodle looking thing. I think he will be fine, but nice little eye opener.
