So ... earlier today my elderly neighbor Richard knocked on my door and asked me if he could borrow $10 until his SSI check arrives next Tuesday. He needed to get a prescription because he has nerve damage in his leg. I told him that I seldom carry cash and only had two dollars on me...but I could take him to the pharmacy and use my debit card to pay for the rx. So we get to the pharm, he has forgotten his ID (but I have mine, so no problem) and to top things off. the pharmacist tells him that he doesnt have any refills left. The pharmacist cant even fax a request over to the drs office because theres a flag saying that before Richard can get another prescription, he needs to be seen. SO...as were leaving, Richard asks me if he can still have the $10. I needed to buy cat food anyway so when I paid, I took $10 cash back and handed it to him. So my dilemma is this: did I enable him or do I need to have more faith in mankind?
