So earlier today the surgeons decided that it was best that a shunt be put in due to Bill s head leaking fluid. A shunt is a tube leading from his brain to his stomach that deposits excess fluid & will remain there for life. This operation seemed to be a success & Bill is sleeping it off now. I know weve been really lucky so far, especially considering the insurmountable odds he has conquered but Im still a bit sad about this. He will live a normal life but due to the unreliable nature of shunts he may be in & out of hospital all his to have it replaced should it malfunction or get infected. Like I said, I know how lucky we have been & I almost feel ungrateful being upset about it (considering what was on the cards a couple of weeks ago) but getting so close to the end when we thought wed come out unscathed is a bit of a wounder. Will know more about our new leaving date hopefully later today.
