So encouraged by this testimony from an amazing woman of God. My ego screams I’m intelligent and creative, therefore I should have something to show for it; my schooling, my jobs, my accomplishments. Besides, I’m a black girl so I have to succeed. Yet, I’ve been brought low, to learn something from Him. I am no better than the school drop out, the welfare recipient, the drunk, the teen mom, the 30 year old living in his mom’s basement, those who society labels as lowly, those who don’t have an extensive resume or accomplishments that appeal to the masses. Therefore, I haven’t accomplish much post college. And its been many years. I feel like I have nothing to show for myself. But I’m in a bigger Lesson. And it’s hard because my ego, desires, and flesh are in opposition to it. But the Spiritual and Gods Will is so much more important than the physical. Besides Jesus said, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matt 6:19-21) It’s God’s Will that matters. “However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” the things God has prepared for those who love him - these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit,” said Paul quoting Isaiah (1 Corinthians 2:9-10). ~J, retail sales girl, 27~
