So, every once in a while an additional second is added into normal time (basically so that a day remains 24 hours, as per my understanding). This time around it will be done In June the 30th 2015. This is known as a Leap second. A leap second is a one-second adjustment that is occasionally applied to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) in order to keep its time of day close to the mean solar time. Without such a correction, time reckoned by Earths rotation drifts away from atomic time because of irregularities in the Earths rate of rotation. Leap seconds are added at irregular intervals to compensate for the slowing of Earths rotation. This is quite interesting. I know I have said it before, but Time fascinates me...
