So far its been a good day for COMPANY. I dont mean that friends are coming over, I mean the 1970 Broadway musical COMPANY. Ever since Stephen Colbert was revealed to be the replacement for David Letterman, Ive been playing his haunting rendition of Sorry-Grateful, and last night I saw the film Elaine Stritch: Shoot Me, which had a snatch or two of her dynamic career high-point, the song The Ladies Who Lunch. The two songs have been haunting me, so I pulled out my original cast album of COMPANY and sang through the whole thing. An extraordinary show. Im glad to go back to it.
