So far, no owner has contacted us, maybe after Opotiki News article on Thursday, but then they will need to prove ownership of her before we make a decision. By Thursday she has done her 7 days stray time, so will definitely be coming under the SPCA criteria for rehoming. We do need to look past the nice and fluffy things with this dog, have been talking with Joanne the Vet today. Rose shows absolutely no emotion to people and is not even stimulated by food. However yesterday, she did show some keen interest in something dead at the back of the clinic and other dog pee smells on the vet truck. Alice will definitely need some expert advice as to how to rehabilitate Rose. Joanne says she prefers to be in a kennel rather than loose, indicating she has spent a lot of her life in one and finds that secure. She has a long way to go before being a bright happy family dog. So a careful knowledgeable home is definitely required. Joanne also said she is not far from being released from the vets, Kathleen is happy to have her at our Centre inside for awhile till she recovers more, then have Alice home her. She will remain inside for a week to make sure she is okay, then, if no one has come forward to prove the have a worthy home for her to return to, she will be rehomed with a vet nurse furever :)
