Would you like to represent Pittsburgh in competition against schools throughout the nation? The PSUC Forensics Union can offer you invaluable opportunities in these areas and many others. Forensics is a word that most of us do not understand so lets call our activity debate or public speaking. What can if do for you - thats the question - here is the answer. Debate at Plattsburgh is only three semesters old and you can help us grow and expand as we all learn and compete together; Debate is an academic exercise so all you people who want mental challenges here is your chance. Debate however. Is not lust for people on Deans List or with a 4.0 cum because everybody can learn and everybody can contribute. When I say everybody I mean |ust that. Each of us can profit from learning to speak in an academic forum. This activity Is not just for speech majors although its their chance to see the practical application of their studies. Its for the future teacher who must communicate with students. Its for the would be lawyer who can use debate as a stepping stone to his legal career. Its for those who want to go to grad school where debate can make the difference between the school you want and the school you may have to take. Debate it for those who want to speak on current Issues and learn to speak logically and coherently. There is one other thing, debate is - FUN. it may not sound like it but the travel, the competition, the people are all fun and are fun to be part of. Our teams this semester will travel to Boston, Philadelphia, Virginia, Michigan and others. Meat people, go places, do things, Thats what debate can be. Come give it a try. Our meetings ara every Monday night in FA 122 at 7 p.m.
