So far there is no visible eruption, but recent seismic activity - TopicsExpress

So far there is no visible eruption, but recent seismic activity could have been caused by magma breaking through under the glacier. If that has happened it will take a few days for it to melt through the thick ice. An alternative explanation for the seismic activity would be that a medium to large amount of magma has moved into one of the several magma-chambers. This could cause a medium-to-large eruption to take place in the next few days (lets hope not). The third option (and one that nobody wants) is a major fissure eruption to take place. Such an eruption could be active for years. Lets hope it will remain relatively quiet for a while yet.
