So far this week I have 1) received a 6 page scathing email from an adopter whose 5 pound puppy grew into a 60 pound dog a year later, saying I tricked her and I should not be in rescue if I cant positively identify the breed of a 6 week old puppy that was found on the side of the road, 2) got a less than pleasant email from a woman who is upset that I wont adopt a dog with severe separation anxiety to her because shes gone from the house for 8 hours a day and the dog would be left alone there with nothing to occupy his panic but her 3 indoor cats (while they lasted), and 3) got notified through the grapevine that one of the puppies that I rescued from abandonement and then nursed through Parvo and eventually adopted out was found dead in the road this weekend. Oh and I did immediately rehome the monster dog for that narcissistic drama queen who said I had ruined her life by my misrepresentation, and havent gotten even so much as a freaking Thank You email, even though I listened to her sob for a solid 20 minutes on the phone Friday. Cant really say that Im going to miss rescue all that much, because I have come to the conclusion that adopters are pretty much all batshit crazy.
