So far today, rainfall across our region of Virgina and the mid-Atlantic has been very spotty with all of the thunderstorms of significance remaining west and southwest of our area. The current regional radar shows that Georgia and also western Tennessee seem to be the hot spots for thunderstorms this afternoon and several severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued this afternoon down there. For us, one of our model simulated radar images suggests that we can generally only expect spotty light showers around through the remainder of the evening. It does not appear at this point that we will receive any significant thunderstorms this evening...but some small, brief, heavy rain showers are certainly not out of the question.
