So, for over 3 years I trained about 40% upper body, 60% lower body. I was running approximately 11 miles a week. Ive never failed an upper body obstacle, and very rarely came off of an obstacle that left a burn for more than a few seconds. A few months ago, I decided to start running more miles so I could handle the longer races better, and in the process I have been doing less upper body work. I figured that if I could still do 2 sets of 20 pull-ups with my 10 lb. weight vest on, I would be good......... Well, I just got a preview of the Shale Hill Obstacle Course that I will be racing tomorrow, and I have to admit, Im a little worried about a few of those obstacles. Looks like Im going to experience the first race of my life where my upper body stamina will truly be tested. I recall signing up to come and have a great time at the Moss/Powell wedding. Not sure how I got wrangled into going for the course record. :) Its so exciting to actually be nervous about the obstacles again.
