So for the past week or so, myself and other pet owners in our society have been engaged in a duel of sorts with the managing committee of the society after they issued a written notice to one among us, asking him to pay a fine of Rs.400 because his sick pet had vomited just OUTSIDE the society compound! The Society had also put up notices imposing fines and banning pets from using various society facilities a while back. Consequently Mr.Chaphekar from our society decided to contact the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) who were quite quick to respond and promptly sent us a copy of this official circular and also told us how to respond to the fine notice with an aptly worded letter. This is a story ive heard so often with so many people, that i though i should share this official circular here for the benefit of all. Also sharing along with it, two newspaper articles on the subject, that i had also previously shared.
