So for those of you who know me, will know that I dont give much thought into what people think of me, I am what I am, take it or leave it. But here is something that Ive done a few times and get a great deal of satisfaction out of doing. I dont do it all the time, but when the timing is right and the opportunity is there, I will. Hopefully a few of you will try it and find out for yourselves. Sitting in my local Chinese restaurant tonight, feeling like I needed a lift, I randomly picked up dinner for the elderly couple sitting nearby. That is my only criteria, they must be an elderly couple looking like their having a nice night out together. Who knows, it may be only once a month they can afford it or they may be loaded, who cares. Anyway, the payoff is the utter shell shocked reaction to such a random act. Tonight, as it turns out, Frank and Rosemary were doing just that, a simple night out for Chinese. They said never in all the years had someone EVER done anything in such a manner. Not even their own family. Took them several minutes to realize that no mistake had been made, that the manager wasnt kidding. So they came over and we talked for a few minutes and I also found out that Frank ( late 80s maybe? ) has been diagnosed with lung cancer and has spread throughout most of his body and tho able to get about now, doesnt feel like itll be this way for very long. The sheer joy and happiness of such a simple thing was priceless. As they left they had a certain little spring to their step, smiles from ear to ear. A lot of my friends on here make pretty good money, give it a shot, its an unexpected and immediate lift to someones life, and you never know what story you might become a part of.
