So, girls, guess how I started my Saturday morning? I installed my new stove! I have had it for a few weeks and couldnt seem to get any help to get the gas hooked up to it (since I generally shy away from doing my own gas and electric work just because it has the potential to kill me). YouTube to the rescue! I went out, got the line I needed, some yellow Teflon tape (because thats what the code says I need), and started installing. Ladies, just an FYI that Dawn dish soap is your friend in detecting any leaks in the fittings when youre doing this. And its gentle on your hands whilst you manhandle crescent wrenches! I do love these little moments of independence when I dont have to rely on anyone to do jobs Ive never done. Later today, I will finish the backyard drainage job that needs one more fitting. Then its a matter of filling in the sinkhole. That has been an issue since June. And maybe tomorrow, I will install the new electrical outlet in the front of my house. Why not? Im on a roll! Its true that when you want something done right, you do it yourself. But I will ammend that to say when you want it done in 6 months or fewer, watch a video, take a chance, and feel proud of yourself knowing you are not relying on anyone but you to get the job done!
