Over the past few months, there has been much dialogue, nationally, about the Common Core Standards, PARCC (the standardized assessment that was piloted this year), and the impact that such measures are having on the classroom. The information session on May 20 is intended to be a two-way dialogue between presenters and public. We can identify what the Common Core says, articulate the general concerns that are being expressed, briefly describe what PARCC is about, explain what is taking place with our new elementary math initiative, have some discussion about the Bay State Reading Initiative, and entertain any other questions that are brought up regarding expectations for our students.
