So, guys, I wrote a short little fanfic-y thing to try to make The Grey Eyed One cry, and I was really happy with how it turned out! So, I decided to share it with you guys! It was done. The final battle against Gaia and her forces was over. A small group of demigods were on their knees, encircling a large hole. As six of the half-bloods crowded around the hole, weeping, Percy Jackson was inside. Her was frantically trying to revive the small, frail figure in the Earths newest cavity. As tears ran down his face, Percy finally gave up on body, recognizing, but not accepting, that it was dead. Percy reached his hands around Nicos small frame, raising him onto his lap, cradling the son of Hadess head in his lap, Percy bent over Nico. Forehead to forehead, Percy allowed his tears to come flooding. He let out sob after sob. Percy thought back to his first encounter with Nico, and how full of life he had been. Another sob. He began screaming, loud and uncontrollably, at the sky, as his fists pounded the earth around him. Hazel slid down the side of the hole, and put a comforting arm around Percy, and his shouting ceased. They sat there, in silence. Looking, not with there eyes, but with their hearts, at Nico. Arms around each other, they swayed gently, mourning the loss of their brother together. Piper had seen when it first began. As Gaia exploded from the earth, she chose Nico as his victim. She encased him in the dirt, leaving a small amount of air for Nico to suffer in, as she had with countless other allies of the Seven. Gaia screamed into the minds of the amounting forces, The Son of Hades has fallen, trapped in the Earth, he is sealed in his grave, closer to his father than he ever has been before. And now, for you! Gaia screamed as she cast her gaze from the mound of soil that contained Nico to Piper. She had trapped her as well, but Hazel got there in time to save her. Nico was not so lucky. Only when every enemy was dead were the demigods able to go to the spot where he was buried. And when Hazel managed to cast the dirt aside, using minerals around it, they found him. Lifeless. Percy sat there the longest. He waited, staying vigil, long after the others had collapsed into their slumber. Annabeth was nearby, close enough for Percy to know she was there, but far enough to let him wallow by himself, as she knew he preferred, at least for a little while. As Percy stared down at Nico, he noticed something clutched in his hand. He pried open Nicos stiff fingers, and found a dirty napkin, covered in Greek writing. Percy, it began, I have loved you. Both as an older brother, who, even though I would not always show it, I knew would always be there. Standing guard. You were my guardian angel. My secular brother, and warrior. And Percy, sweet, moronic, bumbling Percy, I loved you with all my heart. Not just as a brother, but.... The note ended. Percy realised, with horror struck on his face, that that was when he must have run out of air. ~Bident
