So having just finished my re-run through of all the Metal Gear Solid games and rewatching the teaser and trailer for Phantom Pain, Im even more convinced that were being MGS2d again. Everything in the trailers, combined with Ground Zeroes, points to Big Boss being the protagonist in MGS5 proper. But my guess, based on Hideo Kojimas history with the franchise, the choice to cast Kiefer Sutherland as Big Boss, the fact that they already had a secondary voice actor for Big Boss at the end of MGS4, David Hayters cageyness with regard to whether or not he was involved with the project and the point in the overarching MGS storyline that Phantom Pain appears to take place, I think that this game will center around the first meeting between Solid Snake and Big Boss. I think were gonna see Hayter vs. Sutherland and I think Big Boss is the antagonist, not the protagonist. Im guessing well see everything right up to (and maybe encompassing parts of) Metal Gear (the very first one). Bring everything full circle. That said, I havent played Ground Zeroes yet, but its next on the to-do list and I obviously have yet to see how that affects my thoughts on Phantom Pain.
