So here I sit on my couch, in my living room, with my feet up, working diligently on projects I can tackle from home, chatting with my mother-in-law, who has stopped in. Then comes the cheerful knock on the front door & shortly after, a small brigade of Guardian Gals & Jamie Newhouse come filing in. Quickly, Im handed a cold, iced mocha, they fill me in on what theyve been up to, then share with me more about what they learned about my new neighbors, 2 blocks away @ The Emanuel House this morning. One such thing they learned was that when asked what they liked to do, the women there didnt have many answers. Another thing they learned was that newest guest of the house (who had been there less than an hour) very much liked Italian food. Shopping bags in hand, our Guardian Gals & Jamie were headed back to deliver a special dinner they had purchased at Glens today, in effort to express hospitality & make the newest guests 1st night in the neighborhood special. To know that someone has heard us & paid attention to what brings us comfort, truly can be a step towards our healing. You go Gals. I am so proud of you!! On their way out, it was pointed out to me that they were wearing their backpacks on their front sides in support of Abby. As much as Ive tried to remain active with them this summer, my super-sized belly has prevented my normal pedestrian activity. These gals collectively have an awesome sense of humor, which is something I know will serve them well. Ive found in life that being able to laugh, truly makes so many of our hurdles so much easier to bear. Pictures will be posted later, I am certain, by Jamie. Happy day everyone!
