So here are a few things I learned from the 4 hour TDC Advisory - TopicsExpress

So here are a few things I learned from the 4 hour TDC Advisory Council meeting Tuesday morning. West 30A bike path connector to 98 was mentioned. Easement from the State Park will be necessary & there was talk about making it 10 w like has been designed at the east entrance of 98 into Walton County. The East Corridor Improvement Project got approval from the TDCAC for $250,000 for 10 w multi-use paths on both sides of 98 from the eastern boundary to before where the new commercial zone is developing & $200,000 for landscaping. Next stop, the BCC. This is a group of non-government folks who got together & put a plan to beautify the eastern end of 98. There are 3 parts, the eastern gateway into Walton County, the area at the east end of 30A @98 that is currently seeing a development spurt & the are from there to Watersound Origins on the north side of 98. The above partially funded section, is one of the 3. The funding approved by the TDCAC was only for partial landscaping, of the original request. Bike path bridge over Western Lake on the north side of 30A is being designed & will go out to bid Oct-Nov, with construction starting in Dec, to be completed by Memorial Day 2015. In July, Walton County received the final funding for beach renourishment otherwise known as Storm Damage Reduction. The next task is to get the easements signed by all the Gulf front property owners. That will be a feat. In total the plan is for 19 miles of beach. When this project is complete, the Feds will take on the maintenance of the renourishment for 50 years. It will include the creation of dunes in some areas and the area south of what will be established as the ECL, erosion control line, will be public beach. The Coastal Dune Lake test sign on Western Lake drew 80-120 lookers a day so additional informational signs will be requested for 11 more of our globally rare & imperiled coastal dune lakes. The New Accesses Workshop was mentioned in a general sense, & that there was a lot of good input. None of the details were shared with the TDC Advisory Council. Since the next BCC meeting, August 12, is so soon, there is not enough time to mull it all over all that was discussed at that workshop, so it wont be on the August agenda but on the September agenda. Last item of the 4 hour meeting. One of the TDCAC members had requested an agenda item to discuss BEACH VENDORS. He explained that as the beach chair wars continue to expand along our beaches, problems are occurring including access of the public on our public beaches. The concept of vendors using unrented chairs as advertising, setting up rows of unrented chairs front & center, thereby preventing public use of public beach, was discussed. He also explained that his guests were complaining about it on a regular basis. Like
