So here is a bit of behind the scenes for you on that ep for our Facebook faithful. Andrew and I arrived in Te Anau a day or so early to film the scenese before the hunt, we went to Jonathan’s at Fiordland Helicopters and got the take-off scene all scoped out, sussed out our angles, had our times locked in etc. We had arranged prior to leaving Aus that I would need the door off the passenger side to film from (filming from heli’s is a tricky business). That was all sorted, and we were all prepared. Come ballot day the fog rolled in on the coast, the schedule is thrown out the window Jonathan rings and says you guys have to go now! Hunters everywhere all hanging to get into it, we throw the gear out the car, burn up there, the choppers running and ready to go-“Where’s my harness” I say (with the door off you need something to stop you falling out…normally) So these guys-hardened NZ venison men say, “can’t find it, you’ll be right, you have a lap seat belt, but just make sure it doesn’t slip open”. So all that aerial footage was done with my right but check hanging out the 500 into Fiordland airspace, crapping my pants, freezing my tail off and Andrew hanging onto my jacket! That sure was an adrenalin rush!!
