So here is a fair and impartial review on X-Plane 10 coming from a FSX user. Needless to say, X-Plane is completely different in every aspect to FSX/P3D. Probably one of the biggest things is that XPX uses Blade Element Theory which calculates all the flight dynamics literally in front of you. Due to this, you have 2 frame rates you have to watch. One is the standard frame rate, and then there is a sim frame rate. If you have complained about the flight dynamics before, then I recommend you keep your sim rate in the 30s and 40s. Starting the sim for the first time, I configured all my controls. If you are used to FSUIPC and EZDoc, then you have died and made it to heaven. It is somewhat the same interface and the same functions. I got overwhelmed needless to say. Here is a quick flight note, since the default aircraft are well.... default.... dont expect them to be programmed properly with he correct physics (basically the same rule for FSX aircraft). Flight modeling was superb. I hit ctrl m to see what BET sees and it is astounding how much goes into a simple flight model. I now see why NASA, Boeing, and Cessna use this sim. Airport scenery is atrocious (Like every other user says). You may ask why they never put any time into the scenery? They are concentrating more on the flight model than the look of the sim. I should make a note that because this is a known issue, if you go searching on the web, you will find scenery for any airport you want to go to. I did that and I was perfectly fine. On a personal note, If you complain that you have to download stuff, then your in the wrong hobby. The default weather engine is good, but can be better. This is the area where it is lacking a little bit more than the rest. Skymaxx = Active Sky. Highly recommend it! (it even boosts frames). Overall, X-Plane 10 is still young, but WORTH THE INVESTMENT. I will say from a logistics standpoint, LR could be selling this sim for big $$$$ but they dont. It is literally the deal of the century to have a aeronautical physics playground used by the top aeronautical companies right on your home computer. It is best run on a Linux/UNIX System!! Final Rating: 9.5/10
