So here is the first video of Dusty and I as we start our journey to gaited dressage. We both have a long way to go and part of that is finding a good saddle. It will be interesting to compare this to what we look like a year from now. We have a long journey ahead. The things I notice right off are as follows - My leg is slightly too far forward, toes are pointing outward instead of forward, back is too stiff, reign contact is erratic and possibly too strong, my wrists keep breaking, chicken wing arms, I keep looking down and throwing off the balance. Dusty was working the bit a lot, but I am not sure if it was in a good way or not. He gives to the bit nicely, but my poor position is making it difficult for him. Also his feet are a bit long, he is going for a trim this week, so he kept clipping himself. The video is about 15 minutes. I am hoping a new saddle will fix some of my position problems, but perhaps riding on a lunge bareback is in my future until then. Thanks in advance for your input and suggestions.
