So here is the question......Is this the best League of Ireland - TopicsExpress

So here is the question......Is this the best League of Ireland goal ever scored? A 36 consecutive pass move finished by Dundalk FCs Sean Gannon vs St Pats is defiantly a contender. The triangles/line of pass options formed during the move are impressive and would not look out of place in the Nou Camp. The frustrating part of this is, clearly the quality is within the league of Ireland to produce a very high standard of football. So with that in mind, so often why is it that the Irish mentality of coaches is to wait until the opposition is down a man due to a red card before this brand of total football is encouraged, or in the dying moments of games when they are trying to kill the match. Why is it a lack of faith or courage to allow talented players express themselves is prominent in the LOI. The players are not to blame for a poor brand of football IMO because at the end of the day players play how they are asked to and thought to. The problem is with the caliber of coaches and their methods and knowledge of football IMO. This is the anchor holding the LOI back IMO........the wrong people to progress our national league are in key roles that will dictate not only the leagues future, but the future of many talented footballers within the league. And all this said, for every manager in the mould of a Roddy Collins there is a Liam Buckley somewhere out there. Not only a manager, but someone with the coaching methods, capabilities and knowledge to change our style and encourage talented players to play a brand of football that can attract crowds, improve players and in doing so improve our national league.
