So here is the story of how this whole thing started... I met a guy once who told me that pretty much every time he goes to his favorite coffee shop he pays for his coffee and then he gives enough money for another cup to the employee and asks them to give a free cup of coffee to the next person that comes in. So one day last week I was thinking about the upcoming holiday season and how I was not really looking forward to it. Thats kinda strange for me because I usually love the holidays. However I began to think of all the holiday shopping traffic, and the long lines, and the rudeness of certain people trying to save a couple bucks on some useless crap that will probably end up in a garage sale in a few years. So I started trying to come up with an idea to make this holiday a little different. So I came up with the idea of making pay it forward business cards to hand out to people during the holiday season. I posted about it on Facebook and got a lot of positive feedback. So I decided to order the cards. I designed the cards on Vistaprint and when it asked me how many I wanted I first thought that 200 would be plenty. Then, I started looking at the 500 card order selection and thought, Why the hell not? So I ordered the 500. I put if out on Facebook if there were people out there willing to help me and in just a couple days all 500 cards had been ordered by friends to be mailed to them so they could help get this thing started. I just put the last of the orders in the mail yesterday. I started up the Twitter and Facebook pages and now you are up to date on the Restore the Joy project. If this is a success I hope to maybe start up an RTJ website where people can order the cards. I will keep you posted on what happens with these cards. I really believe in this idea. And a lot of other people seem to feel the same way. Hopefully it becomes a huge thing. Have a nice day. DZ
