So here it goes, I have about 30 minutes until I make my way to Stockholm Arlanda Airport and start my journey back to St. Augustine. It is so hard for me to put into words how thankful and appreciative I am for my family, my friends, my host family, my Rotary clubs, and everybody else for making this amazing year possible. I cant even begin to explain how amazing my year has been here in Sweden, 1- because my english is not at its best haha, and 2- there are no words to describe my year. This without a doubt has been the most life changing year out of all of my 18 years of living. Ive been through so much during this year, and Ive learned so much this year about this beautiful country that I now can safely call home, Ive learned so much about other cultures and perspectives on life through the amazing exchange students Ive met this year, and Ive learned so much about myself. I would do anything to go back to the first day of my exchange and relive this year over and over again, but as my host mother told me, You have to leave before you can come back. Its so crazy to think that there are other future exchange students that are in the same shoes I was in last year, and they are unaware about how amazing this opportunity is and what it really does to you. And just like that, my year was over. For everybody who is still in their host country or about to leave for their host country for exchange, enjoy everything while you can. The year goes by too fast to sit around and do nothing. But before I get you confused, this is not a year long vacation. While this was one of the best years of my life, I had loads of struggles and problems, but it was rewarded through experience and maturing along the way. Enjoy and absorb every moment. Fall in love with your country and do things that you would never have the opportunity of doing back at home. Meet new people, bond with your host families, eat all of the crazy foods they feed you and worry about your unexpected weight gain later, explore your city, absorb the culture, participate in every weird tradition they have to offer, and just enjoy your exchange to the fullest, because exchange is what you make it.
