So here was an all timer in bad umpiring. Runners on first and second, less than two outs, off with the pitch. Batter hits a soft liner to our shortstop. Runner on second runs into our shortstop, blatent interference. (As many times as this call is murky on if it was obstruction or interference, this one was a slam dunk). Shortstop catches it anyway and now both runners are far off the bag and scrambling to get back. Shortstop makes off-balance throw (thanks to interference) to first that ends up in dugout. Batter is out. Is the runner on second out for interference? No. Do the runners get the base they were going to, plus one? Nope. Cause the runner on second was awarded home and the runner on first awarded third. Which would be fine if they hadnt been trying to get back to their original bag to avoid being doubled up. So, no double play, but they get a run out of it and put a runner on third. Yikes! We already were getting killed, so it made no difference in the outcome of the game, but it added insult to injury. Cherry on top was the pitching coach then being tossed for having the temerity to then ask them to check the rule book.
