So here we are about a year later. Fallon’s ratings are excellent, David Letterman is about to leave his CBS show to be replaced by Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert, and Craig Ferguson is already gone from his CBS show, to be replaced by James Corden, a British singer/actor who plays the role of the Baker in the new movie, Into the Woods. Jimmy Fallons monologues have improved, he has some bits I like, and his interviewing skills still leave a lot to be desired. He’s still wasting time that could be used talking meaningfully to his guests instead playing games. He has proved himself a talented singer and musician, worthy of his stage band, The Roots. But speaking as an old guy, Jimmy Fallon is no Johnny. Have no idea how Stephen Colbert will do if he’s going to have to play himself on TV. And I miss Craig Ferguson’s dead sidekick already.
